LawDraft - Legal Document Creation System

LawDraft is a cloud-based legal document creation system that reduces drafting time by up to 70% which increases the profitability of each legal matter and delivers faster results for your clients to give your law firm a competitive edge.

What is LawDraft?

LawDraft uses a unique technology called Rapidocs developed by Epoq Legal to speed up both the data gathering from clients and the document production for lawyers.

This allows lawyers to spend less time on a matter, making them more efficient and more profitable.

LawDraft includes hundreds of documents suitable for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in four libraries:

1) Employment and Health & Safety
2) Wills, PoAs, Ct of Protection and Family
3) Landlord & Tenant
4 )Business

How does LawDraft work?

Epoq's team of qualified solicitors, together with legal editors, have created a suite of legally robust documents, which they maintain and update whenever there is a change in law, ensuring that every document created in the system is legally sound. The system asks all the questions that a lawyer would ask in the first meeting with the client, and it uses this information to create a fully tailored document that meets the unique needs and circumstances of the client. One underlying template can produce hundreds of permutations.

The questions can be answered by the lawyer directly, or they can send the client a link to a questionnaire to complete themselves. As the questions are answered, the document drafts in real time (the drafting can be hidden from the client). The questionnaire has built-in fail-safes to prevent the client from making contradictory selections or providing answers that would result in a legally invalid or unenforceable document.

Once the client has completed the questionnaire, they send it to the lawyer with questions or notes. The lawyer is presented with the completed document to review and, if needed, amend before applying their house branding.

To be able to create a document for a client, there is always a certain amount of information you need to glean from them. This is usually done in an initial meeting, with a few follow up emails and calls which can take 1-2 hours.

With LawDraft the systems asks the clients the questions for you and gets them to input the information directly, saving you and your client time.

As questions are answered, the document is created in real time, and once completed, the lawyer is notified, allowing them to review and edit the completed document to suit their own personal style and house branding.

The lawyer can then present the completed document to the client much quicker than traditionally produced documents, which enhances the client service experience.

The LawDraft platform reduces the time taken to create documents for your clients by around 70%.

You can choose to pass on some or all of this efficiency saving to the client, or if you charge on a fixed-fee basis for documents, then you can opt to retain it as profit in the matter.

It's your choice.

How does LawDraft make legal document creation more profitable?

When creating a legal document for a client such as a Will, employment contract or a lease, the most time is spent on collecting the information you need from the client and the time it takes to do the initial draft. LawDraft allows you to cut out these time-draining elements by capturing the information from the client directly and automatically preparing the first draft for you. As most document creation matters are charged on a fixed fee, any time that you can save on these matters is profit.

LawDraft isTremendous value

LawDraft is priced per library, meaning you only pay for the documents you need. There are also discounts if you take more than one library.

The pricing model is simple and transparent. Unlike other platforms that charge per document created, LawDraft includes unlimited usage. A standard licence includes 10 users, who all have full access to the libraries you select.

There is a one-off setup fee per firm of £1k, and then the costs can be split into monthly payments to further aid your firm's cash flow. Initial contracts are for 12 months, and you can add additional libraries at any time.

Cost per library is just £625 or £833 per month (excluding VAT) with discounts for taking more than one library.

So what has Betterment Agency got to do with LawDraft?

Frequently asked questions

Is LawDraft hosted in the UK or EEA (to ensure GDPR compliance)?

Yes, hosted in the EEA (in the ROI) and fully GDPR compliant.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes, we can set that up for you; just get in touch with us.

Does LawDraft include end-to-end encryption?

Yes. Data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) salted and hashed within DB with AES-256 encryption, including individual data keys and frequent key rotation. Client-generated document instances in Rapidocs are further encrypted by Epoq prior to salting and hashing at AWS. All communication with our systems is required to be either through SSL or VPN.

What are the backup and disaster recovery protocols?

o We have a documented disaster recovery plan which we’re happy to share. Backup is effectively continuous. All critical customer data is stored at Amazon RDS, a relational database service, in a multi-location configuration. The RTO (Recovery Time Objective) for a single location failure is the length of time for the fail-over to become active. Since data is mirrored continuously to a replica standby, achieving the RPO (recovery process Objective) is expected to be no more than a few seconds and possibly zero. Continuous incremental backups are stored at record level (with audit tables) and with full and partial database backups.

Redundancy is built into the entire platform, either through deliberate loading across different zones or using AWS hosted solutions which have redundancy built in, from the network to the application and database.

Is there a service level agreement with uptime guarantees and support responsiveness?

Yes, SLA is as per the master services agreement. The service is 24/7/52 live cloud-based platform hosted through AWS, with multiple servers implemented for redundancy and traffic management at the front-end to ensure smooth operation service during peak hours. There is no downtime during live service update and all data is hosted on a system with a geographically separate failover server for physical threats such as fire or flood.

How reliable is the LawDraft Platform?

Our service uptime level for the last five years is 99.9%

Is there the ability to customise templates to match firm-specific precedents?

Yes, your fee earners can fully customise any document created in LawDraft.

Are the documents created by AI?

No, the document components are drafted and maintained by qualified solicitors who are SRA regulated. Epoq solicitors have, on average, 22 years' experience.

Can we add our own document templates into LawDraft?

No, not easily. The complexity of the system logic makes this a difficult process. Although not impossible, it would incur additional costs to provide this functionality and you would need to commit to maintaining the precedents.
